Rise Above the Waters: Harmony 10 Years After Hurricane Ivan

Join us for Harmony’s “Rise Above the Waters,” 10 years after the devastating flooding of the town by Hurricane Ivan. Businesses and residences were wiped out by the water, which crested at 18.1 feet. Come to Harmony for an event honoring the past and celebrating the present.Saturday, September 27, 10am-4pm. Many family-friendly events planned including:

10am
Parade. From the Moose to Wood Street Park, led by bagpiper Josh Hassan and featuring a bright yellow 5 foot paper mache “rubber ducky” made by Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School students. Harmony Fire Company and Zelienople Fire Department will be participating. Honorary Parade Marshalls: Sue Casker and Marilyn Weyman

10:30am-4pm

Water-Themed Art Show: Connoquenessing Valley Elementary Students. Stewart Hall.

Harmony Flood Walking Tour, 2 hours, led by Mike Cornell, Harmony Borough Parks, sponsored by Venture Outdoors. The group will talk to people who were impacted by the flood.

Venture Outdoors Climbing Wall

Water Activities and Creek Fun at Connoquenessing Creek and Wood Street Park. Look for the high water marks on Harmony’s buildings! Firetrucks on display at the Harmony Fire Company lot.
